RSRis Jamie Shufflebarger: Importance of U.S.-EU cooperation
Jamie Shufflebarger is the Political and Economic Counselor at U.S. Embassy Tallinn. Prior to arriving in Tallinn in July 2020, she served as the Deputy Secretary of State’s Special Assistant covering Europe, Security Affairs, and International Organizations. In addition to several domestic assignments, Jamie has represented the United States abroad as a diplomat in Ankara, Turkey, and Islamabad, Pakistan. Before joining the State Department, Jamie was a reporter and editor. She graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans, grew up in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and was born in Columbus, Ohio.
Jamie will discuss the relationship between the United States and Estonia; how the United States works with Estonia in international institutions including the United States, NATO, and OSCE; and the state of the current U.S. relationship with Russia and China. In particular, she will discuss the importance of U.S.-EU cooperation, especially to counter the growing economic coercion exerted by the People’s Republic of China in Europe.
