Jameela is a Palestinian living in Tartu and a chef at Köömen. Michal is a poet from Israel and the co-author, together with Gaza poet Basman Derawi, of the poetry book Your Stories Look Me in the Eyes.
We will sit around one shared table, eat good food, drink tea, and speak with two people whose stories are very different, but who are willing to sit at the same table and speak honestly about what they have seen, learned, carried with them, and reconsidered.
We will talk about what Jameela’s and Michal’s childhoods were like, what they were taught to fear, what values they were given, when a person begins to ask uncomfortable questions, and how occupation affects everyday life.
Our event is not a lecture or a political debate. It is a shared conversation where we exchange personal stories and experiences.
Come if you feel that you would like to meet around one shared table, listen to stories, and speak with real people from both Palestine and Israel.

Jameela on Tartus elav palestiinlane ja Köömeni kokk ning Michal on Iisraelist pärit luuletaja, kes on Gaza luuletaja Basman Derawiga luuleraamatu “Your Stories Look Me in the Eyes” kaasautor.
Istume ühise laua taha, sööme head toitu, joome teed ja räägime kahe inimesega, kelle lood on väga erinevad, aga kes on valmis istuma sama laua taha ning rääkima ausalt sellest, mida nad on näinud, õppinud, kaasa saanud ja ümber mõelnud.
Räägime milline oli Jameela ja Michali lapsepõlv, mida õpetati neid kartma, milliseid väärtusi neile kaasa anti, millal hakkab inimene küsima ebamugavaid küsimusi ning kuidas okupatsioon argielu mõjutab.
Meie sündmus ei ole loeng ega poliitiline debatt. See on ühine vestlus, kus jagame isiklikke lugusid ja kogemusi.
Tule, kui tunned, et tahad kohtuda, kuulata lugusid ja rääkida päris inimestega, nii Palestiinast, kui ka Iisraelist.
