🔋 The potential of nuclear energy was first revealed in Europe a century ago. In 2025, as Europeans reaffirm their commitment to protecting the environment, nuclear power is often presented as both affordable and clean-but is that really the case? Meanwhile, new demands for electricity are rapidly emerging, from electric vehicles to drones and artificial intelligence. Are we ready to remain competitive with other continents? Can we ensure security of supply? What is the current situation in France, Europe and the world?
Ambassador Mignot brings a unique perspective, drawing on his experience with nuclear energy both in his diplomatic career and in the private sector.
🇫🇷 After completing studies in political science, international relations, economics, and Turkish (Institut d’Études des Relations Internationales – ILERI; University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne; London School of Economics; and the University of Ankara), Emmanuel Mignot passed the Concours d’Orient of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in March 2000.
He was assigned for two years to the Directorate for Strategic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he was responsible for sensitive issues related to nuclear energy (2000–2002).
He subsequently worked on matters relating to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems (2002–2004).
From 2004 to 2007, he was posted to the French Embassy in Berlin as First Secretary.
From May 2007 until 2009, he served as Advisor for Strategic Affairs to the Prime Minister.
He then became Deputy Head of Mission at the French Embassy in Mexico.
In 2012, he was seconded to the company AREVA as Director for European and International Affairs.
In 2015, he assumed the position of Deputy Permanent Representative of France to NATO.
In 2020, he was appointed Diplomatic Advisor to the French Chief of Defence Staff (Chef d’état-major des armées).
Since 30 July 2023, he has served as Ambassador of France to the Republic of Estonia
